Cannabis Oil: Will It Get Me High?

Waylon Cameron
Cannabis oil, also known as CBD oil, is a natural compound found in cannabis and hemp. It's recently become quite a common substance used by people of all ages. So, since it's part of the cannabis family, does consuming it make you high? Your grandmother uses CBD oil. Is she really sitting at home high as a kite playing bingo with her cats? Today, we'll be taking a deeper look into CBD oil. And by the end of this we'll most certainly have an answer to that question.

Many people think that CBD oil causes the same effect as marijuana, but this is actually just a common misconception. Although they come from the same plant, CBD oil is actually nonintoxicating. In other words, the answer to that question is no; it does not make you high.

But if it doesn't get you

What makes you high is THC, and most CBD products have less than 0.3% THC, while the average amount of THC per joint of marijuana is approximately 12%. So, if your goal is to get high, I've got some news for you; you are most certainly 100% not going to get that with CBD oil.

But if it doesn't get you high, there must be a purpose of CBD oils. It comes from the same plant as cannabis, so if it doesn't make you high, then what's the point? Well, CBD actually has a long list of health benefits. One of those benefits is anxiety relief, which is surprising, as I'm sure we all know many people who actually get anxiety from using marijuana. But remember, they're not the same thing, they just come from the same plant. Researchers believe that it changes the way our brains responds to serotonin, which is linked to mental health. So, CBD oils can also improve mental health, which is really incredible if you ask me.

With all these incredible benefits comes

And not only that, it can also assist with pain relief. CBD is becoming a commonly used substance in the fitness world. Many professional athletes are now using CBD to assist with injuries and recoveries. It can support the relief of spinal cord injuries, muscular strains and even arthritis.

With all these incredible benefits comes my absolute favorite, which is the assisting of cancer treatment. Professionals say that CBD may help reduce cancer symptoms and cancer treatment side effects. And while it's not an actual cure for the disease, it moderates inflammation and alters cell reproduction, which can inevitably reduce the reproduction of tumor cells.

But with all these amazing benefits, surely there has to be a downside? The unfortunate answer is yes, CBD comes with its list of positives, but it comes with its negatives too. The use of CBD may have side effects such as depression, dizziness, hallucinations, low blood pressure and withdrawal symptoms such as irritability or insomnia. It's important to understand the risks of CBD before using it. Although these side effects are uncommon, they may still occur, so consulting a doctor before use is probably a good idea.

But with CBD coming from the same plant as marijuana, is it even legal? The truth is, as much as we'd like it to be, it isn't legal everywhere. Although it is legal on a federal level, it is still illegal under some state laws. So, if you are interested in trying CBD, I'd recommend finding out the legality of it in your city or state before giving it a go.

CBD is fast becoming a commonly used substance all around the globe, for people of all ages. Its health benefits really do speak for themselves. But the answer to the big old question is no, CBD does not and will not make you high. If you're planning on getting a bit blazed and watching the new Adam Sandler movie, I'd recommend going to your local marijuana dispensary (if you are privileged enough to legally have one) and getting yourself a nice bag of green, because CBD won't get you very far. However, if you're feeling anxious or if you're suffering from any kind of muscular pain, CBD oil is the substance for you.

So, hopefully this article has cleared up the simple fact that no, CBD will not make you high. But if you suffer from anxiety or muscular pain, it can probably make you better.
