When planting cannabis, your chief objective is to maximise production by ensuring jmany and fat buds as possible. This is achievable only if the spacing is friendly to the plants, by this it means that each plant can access enough light. Your plants are to supposed to touch each other as it poses a direct threat to their growth. Some of the effects of cannabis leaves or buds touching are poor ventilation, high humidity where they touch, mold and mildew among others. This results to underdeveloped bud production which leads to losses. Well, this is how important spacing is, why don't we right away get to the details of spacing?

To kick off, it is vital to know that there are no scripted instructions on spacing. It is dependent on a number of issues as scribbled below; the strategy you want to adopt for your farming, the size of the plants, your light supply, just to name a few. The central thing to keep in mind is that they should not touch whatsoever.

Depending on the size of the

Different strategies apply different spacing technique, for instance, the Sea of Green method has a spacing of 1 plant per square foot for mature plants. Topping is another method, that in some instances has 2-4 square feet per plant while low stress training may adopt 2 square feet per plant. This however differs with respect to the farmer and sometimes their lighting and space.

Depending on the size of the cannabis plants, you can have 1-5 plants per foot. By considering how adverse the effects would be if the plants touch, space your plants according to their size. The plants however, can't be spaced too far to avoid wasting of precious space which can accomodate more plants. This as only applicable when the plants are young and not very leafy. Once they reach the flowering stage, more space is required by the plants. This is to ensure adequate delivery of light, average humidity, easy monitoring of the temperature and convenience when maintaining them. Take caution; you need to adjust the spacing as the plants grow to avoid canopying.

How to space Cannabis plants

The flowering stage, a very crucial phase in cannabis production requires more spacing. Some farmers increase their spacing to twice as much as it was earlier. However, it is not a written approach, and you should not be bound to follow it. A tested example on how you should space them is 1-4 square feet per plant. This enables the plants to reach maximum production since they can absorb the nutrients and light well, with no bacteria and mold to affect their yields.

For those who grow their plants in the fields, it is advised to have at least 3 square-feet spacing for each plant. This will give room for the plant to expand during growth and avoid canopying, which would be hazardous to the plants. Other considerations to put forth during spacing is the size of growing pot. A plant requires a pot that is big enough to ensure the roots are strong and well aerated. These pots should be well spaced to prevent distress when tending to your plants.

Spacing is vital for the growth of cannabis plants, it is the key to healthy plants and hence fruitful production. As a farmer, you should heed to ensuring there is enough space for the plants to thrive and yield satisfying results.
